The University of Sheffield Sustainable Food Futures
SheFF is committed to understanding contemporary agri-food systems and how they can be made more sustainable.
Based at the University of Sheffield, we are an interdisciplinary initiative that seeks to research and deliver sustainable agri-food systems in order to provide sufficient safe, affordable and nutritious food for all.
Given the scale and urgency of the challenge of feeding a growing population from finite resources, new forms of collaboration are required between social scientists, biologists, engineers and health researchers. Working at the frontiers of our academic disciplines, we seek to undertake transformative research and to co-develop translational solutions to the challenges facing current and future food systems.
Our vision for integrated, interdisciplinary agri-food research is outlined in a recent open access paper in Food Security (Horton et al. 2017).
